Today in United States we live far better lives than almost anyone in human history. The average American today lives a life kings and queens could not have dreamed of a century ago. Air conditioning, a world of information at your fingertips via the Internet, copious amounts and varieties of food, travel from coast to coast in hours, hours of leisure time and countless options for filling it, mobile phones making video calls with people on the other side of the world or just next door… and much, much more.
Gratitude for such bounty is sometimes… in short supply. Red, White & Blueopoly is a game that seeks to inspire gratitude by celebrating the American innovators, entrepreneurs and inventors who gave us so much of that bounty and the freedom that allowed them to do so.
The game itself is like most “Opoly” style games, but the main difference is the spaces are named after American entrepreneurs and inventors such as Thomas Edison, Cyrus McCormick, Josephine Cochrane, Elisha Otis, Glenn Curtiss and even today’s giants like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.
The game starts at LAUNCH and players roll the dice and travel around the board accordingly. The goal is to buy and sell various properties and ideally acquire all of the colors of one group so that they can develop condos and resorts. Along the way they may land on Startup Roulette or Life’s Curves which can bring anything from a visit to railroad baron Lealand Standford (and maybe pass LAUNCH! and collect $200) or a Student Loan bill of $150. Other stops include Regulatory Limbo, Rest Area and Tax Time.
At the end of the day, Red, White & Blueopoly is a game, which means that the foundation has to be fun… and it is! Whether taking over the high rent district anchored by Steve Jobs or the staking your claim in the middle class suburbs featuring George Eastman and Willis Carrier, Red, White & Blueopoly is guaranteed to provide hours of fun and maybe inspire the next Henry Ford or Madam C.J. Walker along the way!
